Registrants will receive a program (including abstracts and attendee roster), a box lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments, and the evening reception following the meeting. Payment can be made at the time of registration using the registration link above with payment made via Paypal.

 Early registration until 12:00noon on October 16, 2017  - $20
On-site Registration payable at the door- $25

 Information for presenters :
Short talks
We are scheduling 15 minutes for each talk. This includes Q&A and switching time, so plan on about 12 minutes for your talk, a couple of minutes for Q&A, leaving us 1 minute for switching to the next speaker. Plan on bringing your presentation on a USB memory stick.
Posters
Posters will be mounted using small paper clamps onto 36" x 48" hardboard sheets, which can be placed onto the easels either horizontally (landscape) or vertically (portrait). We will provide clamps, boards, and easels; all you need to bring is your poster. If your poster is in panels or pieces, you should contact the meeting organizers ASAP.

Submission Guidelines

  1. You may use any organism(s), with any type(s) of agar, on any size or shape petri dish.
  2. Art needs to have been created safely in the appropriate Bio Safety Level environment for the organism(s) used. For more information, please consult ASM'sGuidelines for Biosafety in Teaching Laboratories and the Appendix to the Guidelines.
  3. Digitally untouched or minimally edited to improve clarity of the photo. No other artificial enhancements or manipulations (e.g. false coloring) are permitted.
  4. Accompanied by a description that captures the attention of a general public audience, as well as explains key features of your piece, in 200 words or less.
  5. Photos need to be high resolution JPEG (minimum 300 dpi)
  6. Photos need to be uploaded here by October 14, 2017


Elections :
The Executive Board meeting will be held during lunch, and will the election of new officers. If you would like to nominate someone or volunteer to run for office, please feel free to do so by sending an email to elections@northcarolinaasm.org.

For those of you who will be traveling the day before the meeting, or staying the night afterwards, there are many hotels around NC State.

We have reserved a block of rooms at three area hotels with special rates for our meeting attendees. Two hotels are off campus and one hotel is across from campus on Hillsborough Street near the NC State Bell Tower. There will be free parking on Campus the Saturday of the meeting.

There are additional hotels around campus that you may wish to book that are not included in our block rates.
